Visiting Las Vegas? These are the best things to do in Vegas in February.
The best part about Las Vegas in February is that it’s a quieter month after the holiday festivities. If you’re hoping to avoid crowds, just don’t visit during Super Bowl or Valentine’s Day. To help you plan your time here, we’ve put together a monthly guide of all the happenings this month and organized them by date and category.

Weather in Las Vegas in February
- Average Temp in Las Vegas in January: high of 66° F, low of 33° F
- Rainfall: 0.7 inches
- Humidity: 40%
Believe it or not, the weather is not hot year-round in Las Vegas. Although it’s very mild compared to what our friends get in the northeast, it’s still cold, especially after the sun goes down. If you’re used to SoCal weather, you may want to pack plenty of layers.
February is also the wettest month out of the year. It doesn’t rain much in Vegas in general (average 4 days in Feb and 0.76 in), but you can get really unlucky with weather like some of our friends who visited last month.
It’s a great time of year for climbers (send temps!), and people from all over the world visit Red Rock Canyon. Hotel rates are lower when it’s quiet as long as you avoid the big shows like CES and AVN.
Our favorite event for locals is the Lights of Love at Ethel M, where they decorate the gardens with Valentine-themed holiday lights.

Tips for Visiting Las Vegas in February
- Shows & conferences can sell out fast! Get tickets as soon as you know.
- Some shows have restrictions on what you can bring in. Read all the fine print before heading there.
- Save money on multiple attractions with the All-Inclusive or Explorer Pass.
- Even though it’s cold out, sunscreen is important, especially if you’re doing outdoor activities.
- The sun sets early in February (around 4:30-5 PM), so plan your days around it if you want sunlight.
- Plan to arrive early to meals and shows. It takes longer than you think to get from one spot on the strip to another. Give yourself a buffer.
What to Wear in Vegas in February
Although the coldest month in Las Vegas is December, February is not far behind.
- Bring layers – layers are essential for visiting Las Vegas in February. These are our favorite travel jackets. As a local, I bundle up all month because I’m soft now, but there are warm days too.
- Dressy clothes – pack them if you plan on going clubbing or eating at nicer restaurants. You will see a mix of tourists in casinos dressed both up and down.
- Winter coat – If you’re going out hiking or climbing, bring a mid-layer and a puffy to keep you warm. It can get hot while you’re moving but gets cold when you’re still.
- Rain jacket – just in case you get unlucky with weather.
- Shoes – If you’re going out at night, you’ll probably bring heels or dress shoes, but make sure you bring a pair of comfortable travel shoes as well. The casinos are massive, and you end up walking a lot to get from place to place
Best Places to Stay in Las Vegas
Is February the best time to visit Las Vegas?
This depends on what you want to do. If you are spending most your time indoors on the Strip, any time of year will work.
If you want to have outdoor activities as part of your itinerary, I definitely recommend visiting between November to March.
If you’re a rock climber, the busiest months to visit Red Rock is December and January, but November and February are quite crowded too. November is our favorite month, but maybe it’s because we waited out a long summer to go climbing outside. Plus, we enjoy climbing in 50 degree temps vs 40s.
