Rose Topaz
Tom Ford Beauty Rose Topaz Eye Color Crème Eyeshadow Quad ($89.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a new, lighter neutral quad with one deeper shade. There were two shimmery shades and two more matte shades included in the quad, which also featured the brand’s new cream-powder formula that is quite pigmented and tends to “melt” on skin for a more seamless look, though they actually perform more like a powder with respect to pick-up, blendability, etc. One shade in the quad wasn’t as pigmented as others, but they were easy to work with and lasted around nine hours on me.

Rose Topaz #1
Rose Topaz #1 is a medium peach with warm undertones balanced between pink and yellow. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well as the texture was lightweight, emollient but not too firmly-pressed into the pan. This shade lasted well for nine hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
–
The new Creme finish is supposed use “lush emollients” for a “crease and flake-resistant finish” that is “long-wearing” and “one-swipe” in application. It feels like a cream-to-powder formula but with a ratio of more like 35% cream to 65% powder, as there was a more emollient feel by touch but a stiffer brush could produce a little kick up when swirled in the pan.
The magic was when the formula was applied to bare skin, though, as it “melted” in a way that made the finish appear more seamless and skin-like, smooth without emphasizing skin texture or lines. They applied just fine using typical eyeshadow brushes and application methods that I would have used for a traditional powder eyeshadow.
The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque to opaque, depending on the shade, but most were buildable if they weren’t fully opaque in “one swipe.” I found the eyeshadow formula very easy to apply and blend out, too. They lasted between eight and nine hours on me before fading a bit.

Rose Topaz #2
Rose Topaz #2 is a medium gold with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. It had more semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that applied well as it went on evenly and “melted” on my skin thanks to the cream-powder formula. It wore well for nine hours before showing signs of fading.

Rose Topaz #3
Rose Topaz #3 is a medium, golden taupe with warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff paired with a lightweight, cream-powder texture that felt more cream-like by touch but performed more powder-like in practice. It stayed on well for nine hours before fading visibly but had a touch of fallout over time.

Rose Topaz #4
Rose Topaz #4 is a deep taupe-brown with neutral-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. The texture was dense to the touch, felt almost more like a cream than a powder eyeshadow, but in practice, when I used a brush, the color picked up like a powder and even had a few powdery bits in the pan. It had full pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and blended out well. This shade lasted well for nine hours before fading noticeably.
