The actress talks about the specifics of her unique character, and how the project serves as a pilot of sorts for a new series. She also discusses the sources of inspiration she pulled from for her performance. “They really wanted it to feel a little Coen Brothers-esque,” she recalls. To achieve the vibe, Camp dipped into a Southern accent and leaned into the subtle comedy of the script.
She says the filmmakers “lean[ed] into the Cohen Brothers kind of world a little bit. We dip into that. There’s some comedy — some of the lines are crazy. I think I say, ‘It’s hotter than a jalapeño’s coochie out here,’”
Camp goes on to talk about the darkness inherent in the role, and how she enjoys playing darker characters in general. Specifically, she speaks to wanting to move away from always playing bubbly women. She’s accomplishing that here, as well as with her next few projects, including Bridge Hard and Hysteria.
