Over the years, we have published a number of posts promoting the idea of blogging as a way to reach an audience more effectively. As a sunglasses wholesaler, we make extensive use of our blog. Blogging can be equally effective for retail sellers. But there is a caveat: you cannot let your blog go stale.
Blogging is as much an art form as an SEO practice. It requires choosing topics that interest people. It is about grabbing their attention, engaging with them, and convincing them – with your content – to come back and read the next post you publish. That is why stale blogs don’t work. If yours has gone stale, it is time to spice it up.
Here are a few tips and tricks for doing so:
1. Blog About Trends
Whether it’s wholesale sunglasses or designer sunglasses sold at retail, you can only talk about UV protection so many times before readers get tired of it. You can only write so many posts about aviators and wayfarers. But you can continually write new posts about trends in sunglasses.
One of the big benefits of being in our business is that it is subject to at least four different seasons annually. You might be open to more than four depending on who you follow. Here is the point: every season has its trends. So just by following the trends and blogging about them, you can come up with fresh content on a regular basis.
2. Reference Pop Culture
Another good way to spice up a blog about sunglasses is to reference pop culture. For example, you can write a post detailing different styles of sunglasses found in Tom Cruise movies. Spoiler alert: there is more than one.
Some years back, a number of retailers posted about some of the goofy frames athletes were wearing at the Olympics. Olympic-themed sunglasses come out of the woodwork every couple of years. They provide plenty of material for interesting and engaging blog posts.
3. Answer a Question
Google recommends creating relevant content by answering a question your customers might have. That is exactly what we are doing with this post. As a wholesaler of designer sunglasses, our customers are primarily retailers like you. And retailers want to know how they can make their blogs more interesting.
Coming up with questions to answer is as simple as listening to your customers. What do they want to know? What are the questions you hear from them most often? A single post dedicated to each question invites customers to keep coming back to your site time and again.
4. Introduced New Products
New products give you a built-in excuse to write a brand-new post. Whenever you have new products on offer, don’t simply put them on the display rack with no fanfare. Write about them. Better yet, write about them and post some photographs alongside the text.
Blogging about new designer sunglasses gives your readers a reason to be interested. It motivates them to be curious. Best of all, it tells those customers who might be looking for something new that you have products worth looking at.
A stale blog is one that continually recycles the same topics over and over again. Revisiting topics every now and again isn’t necessarily bad, but you need fresh content to engage and motivate. You need to spice up a stale blog so that customers have a reason to come back and read.
Do not be afraid to add a little spice to your sunglasses blog. Give your customers something to think about. Give them something that grabs their attention.
