As a leading distributor of wholesale sunglasses, we know that we sell to businesses of all sizes and types. Some of our customers have brick-and-mortar shops or boutiques where they sell both designer sunglasses and accessories. Others are convenience stores that include sunglasses along with hundreds of other products. Many of our customers sell online. Enter Amazon.
If a significant portion of your sales come from e-commerce, maximizing sales opportunities is about going where your customers are. And these days, that might be Amazon. Selling on Amazon is something that every e-commerce operator should at least consider, even if they ultimately opt to stay away.
Millions of Active Users
One of the big advantages e-commerce brings to the table is not having to rely strictly on a local customer base. You can sell anywhere you can ship to. That being the case, Amazon’s big plus is its extensive customer base. There are millions of active Amazon users who trust the site for most of their shopping needs.
Regardless of your pricing, brands, styles, or anything else, you are not going to get that exposure on any other platform. Amazon is the e-commerce king, hands down.
A Trusted Brand
Due to its sheer size, Amazon has become a trusted brand to a lot of people. Paying customers from many different regions and countries recognizes the Amazon name. They associate it with low prices, fast shipping, and unparalleled choice. When you are selling something as commonplace as designer sunglasses, the brand advantage you get from Amazon is priceless.
Volume Sales
We know from personal experience that you can make money in sunglasses by concentrating on volume or per-unit price. The latter strategy tends to limit your audience quite a bit. Why? Because you are forced to keep prices high to ensure a good margin on each unit.
If you’re willing to make your profit on volume rather than per-unit price, you can appeal to more buyers. This is yet another advantage you get from Amazon. You can sell a whole lot more just by keeping your prices on the lower end of the competitive spectrum. You make more in the long run even though your per-unit margin is lower.
Amazon Prime Day
To us, the icing on the cake is the annual Amazon Prime Day event. If you are not familiar with Prime Day, it is designed to give Amazon Prime members access to killer deals that aren’t available at any other time. And truth be told, it is usually a two-day event rather than just one.
Amazon Prime Day 2022 was offered in 20 countries around the world. Customers purchased more than 300 million items and, according to Amazon, saved more than $1.7 billion doing so. Both were Amazon Prime Day records.
Equally important is that sales in the last few weeks leading up to Prime Day tend to be higher. So you have this 2 to 3-week period, every year, that could potentially rival your annual Christmas holiday sales. You can’t get in on it if you’re not selling on Amazon.
You Have To Meet Amazon Standards
We encourage all e-commerce sellers to seriously consider selling on Amazon. However, there is one caveat: you cannot just talk the talk. You have to walk the walk. Amazon is very protective of its brand. If you don’t do things up to their standards, you won’t sell on Amazon for very long.
If you are not interested in selling through Amazon, no worries. There are plenty of other avenues through which you can sell cheap designer sunglasses that are every bit as good as the big labels. And if you need wholesale sunglasses in bulk, we have a large collection of sunglasses for you to choose from.
