We have been in the bulk sunglasses business for years. We’ve had more than our fair share of opportunities to help new retailers launch their businesses. If you are new to designer sunglasses, you have come to the right place. Let us make your first lesson an introduction to what your customers really want.

Consider the reality that sunglasses are extremely common. Your customers can buy shades at department stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, and even gas stations. They can buy them from literally thousands of online sites. How do you get them to buy from you? First, you give them what they want. Second, you learn how to market effectively.

We will not get into any marketing tips in this post. Rather, we want to focus on helping you give your customers what they want. So let’s get started.

1. Good Quality

At the top of the list is quality. When it comes to sunglasses, most consumers are reluctant to settle for something cheap and flimsy. They want a pair of sunglasses that will withstand the daily routine. They want something that feels solid in their hands; a pair of sunglasses that feels strong when they put them on.

We chose to say ‘good quality’ over ‘high quality’ for one reason: quality is in the eye of the beholder. Our wording is a subtle way to imply that the quality of your products should satisfy your customers. If you can give them what you perceive as good quality and stay within their price point, you’ll be in good shape.

2. Adequate Eye Protection

Next up is adequate eye protection. Your customers are looking for sunglasses with a minimum UV300 rating. Give them UV400 and they will be even happier. As for tinting and polarization, these are a matter of personal preference. We recommend a variety of sunglasses with both features. That way, you will have something for everyone.

3. An Appropriate Style

Stylishness is next, and it can be tricky to navigate. Your customers will prefer a variety of styles based on their personal preferences, needs, and circumstances. Most of your customers will probably be looking for a style they can wear any time of the day and with just about any outfit. But you might also have smaller groups of customers looking for something more specific.

Avid cyclists would want sports sunglasses, preferably with wraparound frames. These are ideal for keeping wind, bugs, and debris out of the eyes. You might have other customers who prefer aviators. These are pilots or people who love to drive. Aviators with polarized lenses are ideal for both groups.

4. A Reasonable Price Point

Last but not least, your customers want a reasonable price point. They don’t mind paying a little bit extra for quality they trust and a style that suits them, but designer sunglasses costing hundreds of dollars probably aren’t their cup of tea. They are coming to you because you offer good sunglasses at a lower price. Make that price comfortable enough to get them to choose you over your competitors.

Fortunately, we take our role as a wholesale distributor seriously. We understand the markup process. We understand that you need to make a good profit to stay in business. We price our wholesale sunglasses accordingly. Another way to put it is that we leave plenty of room for your markup.

In closing, we want to encourage you to put the time and effort into learning as much about your customers as you can. The better you know them, the more able you will be to anticipate their needs.
