Porno for Pyros have postponed their Fall 2023 US tour just days before it was set to kick off. The band cited its desire to complete work on new music as the reason for the decision.
The outing, which was scheduled from October 8th through November 20th, was set to be Porno for Pyro’s first tour in 25 years. Now, it will have to wait until a “few months from now,” with new dates yet to be revealed.
The full announcement from Porno for Pyros reads:
“We are beyond thankful for all of your support these last 30 years, and are anxious to celebrate our 30th anniversary with you. Whilst rehearsing for our first tour in 25 years, we’ve also been in the studio creating new music – that we were hoping to get to you in time for these shows. Unfortunately, we have had to move the dates for the upcoming tour as we were not able to begin our campaign in time. So, we’ve pushed the tour a few months from now, in order for everyone to hear and appreciate the new material that is finally finished. Listen up for the new music in the upcoming weeks and keep an eye out for new tour dates. We’re coming!”

Porno for Pyros re-formed last year when singer Perry Farrell’s main band Jane’s Addiction had to bow out of the Welcome to Rockville and Lollapalooza festivals as guitarist Dave Navarro continued to suffer from long COVID. The band not only filled in for Jane’s Addiction at those fests, but also played a couple of club gigs in Los Angeles and Chicago.
In addition to Farrell, Porno for Pyros feature drummer Stephen Perkins (also of Jane’s Addiction), guitarist Peter DiStefano (guitar), and bassist Martyn LeNoble.
It’s been more than a quarter century since Porno for Pyros released new music, with their last album being 1996’s Good God’s Urge.
