Toro y Moi has released a new EP, Sandhills, with a short film that documents his recent homecoming to South Carolina. Watch the Steve Daniels–directed short below. The EP is out now via Dead Oceans.
Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bear made his new short film with producer Katherine Perry, his high school photography teacher; Steve Daniels, too, is an old acquaintance from Bear’s South Carolina youth. Local artist Ernest Lee made the EP art, and the high-school football team in the video is just that.
Toro Y Moi’s last album, Mahal, came out in May 2022. That came with a short film starring Eric André called Goes by So Fast.
