Turnstile revealed on Friday afternoon that guitarist and co-founder Brady Ebert is no longer a member of the group. The announcement was made via the band’s Instagram Story and follows months of speculation after Ebert’s extended absence from their live set.
To break the news, the band posted a message that read: “Turnstile and guitarist Brady Ebert are parting ways. We are deeply grateful for our time together. Our love for him continues and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward. Love, Turnstile.” No further details have been provided, but it does give a definitive answer to fans who have noted Ebert’s exclusion on the early summer “Turnstile Love Connection Tour.”
A March 2022 taping for Jimmy Kimmel Live! appears to be Ebert’s last public appearance with the band, when they played four songs including the single “Mystery”; he also performed with the band for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series, which was filmed in January 2022.

According to Lambgoat, Turnstile drummer Daniel Fang filed a peace order against Ebert on August 4th that would “prevent Ebert from abusing, contacting, or coming near Fang’s home or employment.” However, the order was revoked during a final ruling on August 11th, as there apparently was not enough evidence to enforce it.
Ebert’s replacement in the interim has been Greg Cerwonka of Take Offense, who has played lead guitar for the majority of Turnstile’s 2022 dates as well as major bookings at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and The Tonight Show in May. There has been no confirmation from the band or Cerwonka on whether his position is now permanent, but that will likely be determined before the group embarks on their Fall 2022 North American tour in October. No matter their lineup, the band will not be lacking in company for the rest of the year as they’re set to be supported by Snail Mail and JPEGMAFIA on their headlining dates, and will find time to link up with Deftones mid-tour for their annual Dia de Los Deftones festival in November. Ebert co-founded the Baltimore-based hardcore outfit with Brendan Yates, Franz Lyons, and Daniel Fang in 2010, and appeared on all three of the band’s albums, including 2018’s Time & Space and 2021’s Glow On. Their latter LP landed at No. 4 on Consequence’s Top 50 Albums of 2021 and No. 3 on the Top 30 Metal and Hard Rock Albums of 2021 list, while Turnstile overall earned the Consequence distinction of 2021 Heavy Band of the Year.
